Pukaar Group is a long-term supporter of charity
Pukaar Group campaigns and events have raised more than £100,000 for charities in Leicester and Leicestershire since 2010.
Social responsibility has run through the organisation since Romail Gulzar founded Pukaar News in 2010. We believe that this ethos is part of what makes our team special.
Leicester charity fundraising
Many of the organisations Pukaar Group has supported over the years are based in in the city and county. Leicestershire charity organisations such as LOROS, Emmaus and the Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign are among those which have been supported over the years.
Pukaar Group has also supported local branches of national charities including ABF The Soldier’s Charity, Age UK and CrimeStoppers. We have an ongoing relationship with the Royal Air Forces Association and its representatives are often guests at our events and feature in Pukaar Magazine.
Case study: Always in Our Thoughts
March 2021 marked the first anniversary of UK lockdown as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic. Pukaar Group wanted to remember the thousands of people who had been impacted by the spread of coronavirus during the previous 12 months. This became the Always in Our Thoughts campaign.
Raise £5,436 by Pukaar Group for Care of Police Survivors (COPS) and the Leicester Children’s Hospital Appeal, based at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Pukaar Group commissioned the creation of 1500 badges and arranged for distribution through online orders and its network of local businesses and supporters.
The campaign won the support of regional influencers including Leicestershire Lord Lieutenant Mike Kapur and Leicestershire Police Chief Constable Simon Cole. Its launch featured in regional media including the Leicester Mercury, Pukaar News and BBC East Midlands Today.
